22:10 | This year has marked the eighth release by the band centred around Jonathan Meiburg, musician/ornithologist from Austin, TX. What started out as an outlet for two Okkervil River members' calmer songs grew into a musically ambitious band and eventually into a household name. Their latest 'Animal Joy' (out on Sub Pop) is yet another affirmation of Shearwater's ingenuity and vigour.
21:00 - 21:50 | "There are times when it's important to quit fantasizing and face the truth about what is happening", says Nona Maria Invie, Dark Dark Dark's impassioned voice. After a tricky year, the band reunited in New Orleans at the start of 2012 to rehearse for the new album. Past tensions and the intense encounter led to a collection of strikingly heartfelt songs that found a home on the promising 'Who Needs Who', out in October. The band will appear at the renowned ATP Festival in Minehead in December, this year curated by The National.
20:00 - 20:40 | After seven albums as J. Tillman, the singer-songwriter decided to turn a new leaf. He brought out 'Fear Fun' on Sub Pop not long after his departure from Fleet Foxes. The album, released under the moniker Father John Misty, is the result of a period of introspection (but also "enough mushrooms to choke a horse") and is both musically and narratively very unlike his previous work. His self-proclaimed morbid sense of humour has left a strong mark on this surprisingly lush record.
This will be a FULL-band show btw!!!
